Jordan prepares for 2000th anniversary celebrations of Christ's Baptismtranslated

Preparations for the two-thousand-year anniversary of the Baptism of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in the Jordan River are beginning at an intensive pace in Jordan, with a horizon of 2030. The Orthodox Church in the country plays an active and essential role in the planning and implementation of the anniversary celebration, which aspires to highlight internationally the spiritual, historical and cultural character of Jordan as part of the Holy Land and a worldwide Christian pilgrimage destination. The Most Reverend Archbishop of Kyriakoupoles, Mr. Christophoros, convened a priestly assembly on Tuesday, August 11, 2026 in the city of Madeva. The central object of the meeting was the presentation of the vision of the Church and its action plan for the next period, with the main priority being its active participation in the national program to celebrate the 2,000th anniversary of the Baptism of the Lord in 2030.
