The Mayor of Ancient Olympia visited the Holy Diocese of Choratranslated

The Holy Diocese of Chora was visited by the Mayor of Ancient Olympia, Mr. Aristidis Panagiotopoulos, and the Mayor's Special Advisor, Mr. Vassilis Kapsis, accompanied by the Consul General of Greece in Melbourne, Ms. Dimitra Georgandzoglou. The distinguished guests were welcomed with great joy by the Theophilus Bishop of Chora, Mr. Eumenios, conveying to them the wishes and blessing of the Most Reverend Archbishop of Australia, Mr. Makariou.

The delegation is in Australia with the main purpose of visiting Brisbane, ahead of the 2032 Olympic Games, and promoting twinning with Ancient Olympia, the birthplace of the Olympic Games.

During the warm meeting, issues of common interest were discussed, with particular reference to the ties of the Commonwealth of Nations with Greece and the importance of preserving our cultural heritage.

This was followed by an exchange of souvenirs and a tour of the Holy Cathedral of Our Lady "Axion Estin" and the surrounding areas, where the visitors had the opportunity to get to know the work and vision of the Holy Archdiocese of Australia and the Archbishop for the facilities of the Virgin Mary "Axion Estin".
