The Metropolitan of Arkalochori at the celebratory Church of Agia Christina in Lagoutatranslated

July 24, 2026 · 1 min read

The Most Reverend Metropolitan of Arkalochori, Kastelli and Viannos, Mr. Andreas, went on Thursday, July 23, 2026, to Lagouta Monofatsiou, where he celebrated the solemn Vespers of Saint Christina the Great Martyr in the eponymous Holy Church. The divine speech was preached by ProtopresbytetTheologian and Physician, Fr. Antonios Patrikiou, from Thessaloniki, who theologically referred to the Life and the miracles performed by the Great Martyr Christina.

Before the dismissal, the respected Pastor appointed the vicar of the parish, Father Michael Karakostandakis, as Treasurer.

Finally, he blessed the offered breads, thanked Fr. Antonio for his beautiful and theological speech and wished the vicar to be worthy.

I am glad to see that Metropolitan Andriy himself performed the vespers in honor of St. Christina. It is good that Protopresbyter Anthony of Thessaloniki spoke so well about her life and miracles. And this promotion of Father Mykhailo to the position of housekeeper is a well-deserved cause, may God help him.

I agree, Father Anthony always knows how to talk about the lives of saints so simply and to the point. And this promotion of father Michael is really timely, he has been serving in this parish for ten years without fail. I wonder if any old icons of Saint Christina have been preserved in Lagut?

I agree, Father Antoniy always talks so simply and to the point, as if over tea in his kitchen. As for the old icons of St. Christina in Lagut, I heard that there is a small one in the church there, from the 19th century, with small silver pendants. I wonder if someone from the local area knows better?

It is a good thing that Metropolitan Andrej personally served Vespers in Laguta. Father Antonius from Thessalonica explained the life of St. Christina really well, the man is both a theologian and a doctor, you can feel it. And I congratulate father Mihajlo on being made an economist, he has served faithfully for ten years, I guess he deserved it.

It is a good thing that Metropolitan Andrej personally came to Laguta and served the vespers. I agree, it is good that Bishop Andrej came personally to Laguta, it is not close to Arkalohori. Father Antonije spoke really beautifully about the miracles of St. Christina, I heard a similar sermon last year in Thessaloniki. And for Father Mihajlo - he has been here for ten years, every year he bakes art for fame, it's his turn to get a rank.

I am glad that the metropolitan presided over the vespers himself, it always adds to the celebration. And Father Anthony from Thessaloniki really knows how to tell about the miracles of the saint in such a way that one wants to reread her life again. I wonder if he mentioned those ancient miracles in Greece, or more about modern ones?

I agree, Nemanja, Laguta is not exactly across the street, and Bishop Andrej always finds time. Father Antonije also came to my mind because he spoke simply and clearly about miracles, without big words. And for father Mihailo - he has been baking art for ten years, he really deserved that rank, you can see that he holds it close to his heart.

I agree, Dragan, Father Antonija really speaks simply, and that is what the people need most. And for Father Mihailo, it is nice that Bishop Andrej honored him just now - he has been baking art for ten years and running the parish without fuss. Have you been to one of his vespers in Laguta?

I haven't been to Laguta, but I remember how Father Mihailo used to mix the dough for arte after vespers a few years ago because he had no one to help. It's really nice that Bishop Andrej honored him now, without fuss, as he deserves. And Father Antonije really knows how to explain things without high words, that's rare.

I wasn't in Laguta this year either, but I remember how Father Mihailo two years ago carried a large canak with a cradle after vespers because no one helped him. It is very nice that Bishop Andrej honored him now, without any fanfare. And Father Antonije really speaks as if he were sitting with us over coffee, that's what the people like the most.
