Ministry of Defense: Coordination of actions for the protection and promotion of Zappeion and the wider historical areatranslated

A broad meeting was held at the Ministry of Culture, under the Minister of Culture Lina Mendoni, with the participation of the President of the Olympia and Zappeion Bequest Committee Lefteris Iovanidis, the General Secretary of Culture of Olympia Vikatos, collaborators of the Zappeion Megaros and officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. As stated in the announcement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the subject of the meeting was the coordination of the actions of the Ministry of Culture and the Olympia and Zappeion Heritage Committee for the protection and promotion of the Zappeion Palace and its surroundings, based on the current institutional framework and, in particular, the provisions of the archaeological legislation.

The Zappeio Megaro, inextricably linked to the history of modern Athens and the revival of the Olympic idea, is one of the most emblematic neoclassical buildings of the capital. Its construction is linked to the vision and bequest of the national benefactor Evangelis Zappa for the revival of Olympia. Together with the gardens and its wider surrounding area, it constitutes a historical ensemble of particular architectural, cultural and environmental value.

Χαίρομαι που επιτέλους κάθισαν να συντονίσουν δράσεις για το Ζάππειο και τους κήπους του. Το κτήριο είναι πραγματικά από τα πιο όμορφα νεοκλασικά της Αθήνας και συνδέεται άμεσα με τον Ζάππα και την ιδέα των Ολυμπίων. Ας ελπίσουμε ότι αυτή τη φορά θα προχωρήσουν σε συγκεκριμένα έργα, όχι μόνο συσκέψεις.

Επιτέλους, καλό είναι που η Μενδώνη κάλεσε τον Γιοβανίδη και μίλησαν συγκεκριμένα για την αρχαιολογική νομοθεσία, γιατί οι κήποι έχουν αρχίσει να φθείρονται πολύ. Το Ζάππειο είναι από τα λίγα μέρη στην Αθήνα που θυμίζουν πραγματικά τον Ζάππα και τα Ολύμπια, ας μη μείνει μόνο στα λόγια αυτή τη φορά.

Хорошо, что наконец взялись за Зáппейо по-настоящему, а не только словами. Кухня у меня маленькая, но я всегда говорю — если фундамент и законы не соблюдать, то и сады, и само здание быстро придут в негодность, как старый пирог без опоры. Надеюсь, теперь дело дойдёт до реставрации кéпов, а не застрянет в очередных совещаниях.

Хорошо, что Мендони и Гиованиди наконец взялись за дело по закону, а не просто поговорили. Зáппейо с этими садами — место особенное, я там бывал в Афинах, не хотелось бы, чтобы всё пришло в упадок, как старый забор у нас на даче. Надеюсь, теперь реставрация дойдёт до кропотливой работы, а не остановится на бумагах.
