Pilgrimage trip to Kefalonia and Ithaca by I.N. Saint Neomartyrs of Ptolemaistranslated

With the permission and the wish of the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Floris, Mr. Irenaios, the Holy Church of the New Martyrs of Ptolemais carried out a four-day pilgrimage to Kefalonia and Ithaca, with the participation of parishioners of the Church. During the first day of the excursion, the pilgrims visited the Holy Church of Agios Spyridon in Kefalonia, where they venerated the graceful relics of Agios Panagis of Basia, one of the popular Saints of Kefalonia.
The next day, the pilgrimage continued to Ithaca. The excursionists went to the Holy Monastery of Panagia of the Cathars, where they worshiped the Patroness of the island. Then they visited the village of Stavros and the Holy Church of the Transfiguration of the Savior, where the holy relics of Saint Joachim of Ithakis are kept. At the same time, they got to know other picturesque and beautiful villages of Ithaca.
On the third day, the pilgrims visited Panagia Fidoussa, one of the most famous religious destinations of Kefalonia. There, according to local tradition, during the festive season, the "snakes of the Virgin Mary" make their appearance.
