The Holy Provincial Synod of the Church of Crete met today, August 12, at its headquarters in Heraklion, in order to discuss issues of the Agenda.

The Holy Synod dealt, once again, with the issue of the catastrophic fires in Megalonisos and draws everyone's attention to the protection of our Land. By Her decision, a collection of olive oil will be carried out from all the Holy Monasteries and Parishes of the Holy Metropolises of Crete, in order to be promoted, through the Holy Metropolis of Lampi, Syvritos and Sfakia, to the people who were injured, while she does not cease to pray for the rest of the sleeping, victims of the recent fiery conflagration.

On occasion, it is announced that, on the occasion of the completion of 60 years since the return of the Holy Cara of the Holy Apostle Titus, the first Bishop of Crete, from Venice to Crete, the Holy Cara will be transferred, on 22 and 23 August 2026, to the ancient Gortyna, in its famous five-aisled Basilica, in front of the village of Mitropoli, where it will stand on the Synthron of the Church of Crete, during the early Byzantine period.
