"Dimitria 2026" - 12th day: "The Cross of our Lord Jesus and the prayer of the Christian" - Speech by Fr. Markellos Kampanistranslated

The multi-day parish festivities "DIMITRIA 2026" continue with particular success in the Holy Church of Agios Demitrios, Municipality of Agios Dimitrios. On Thursday, October 8, 2026, the 12th day of the events, after the liturgical canons in honor of Saint Basil the Great and Saint Demetrius, there was a speech by the Pantheological Archimandrite Fr. Marcellos Kampanis from the Holy Metropolis of Ilio, Acharnon and Petropolis, on the subject: "The Cross of our Lord Jesus and the prayer of the Christian".

Fr. Marcellus analyzed the text of Saint Theophanes the Confessor, who for 28 whole years remained in confinement, completely surrendering himself to prayer but also to offering to his fellow man through letters. In particular, he presented the four sides of the Cross as a guide on our path to heaven.

On the first side, the Saint places the three leading virtues: faith, hope and love. Faith focuses on the fact that the Lord dwells in the church and manifests His special interest towards the believers who invoke Him.
