New Jersey Apostolos new Archbishop of Canadatranslated

Mr. Apostolos from New Jersey was elected by the Holy and Sacred Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate as the new Archbishop of Canada in succession to Archbishop Mr. Sotiriou who submitted his resignation.  The Holy and Sacred Synod meets from the morning in Fanari under the Presidency of the Ecumenical Patriarch, His Excellency. Bartholomeu following a proposal which the Synod members attended and elected, according to the information of ope.gr, the Most Reverend Mr. Apostolos.

The new Archbishop of Canada after his ministry in the Holy Archdiocese of America, having the experience of shepherding the Greek community and this fact seems to have qualified his election to this Province of the Ecumenical Throne.

Originally from Rhodes Evangelos Koufalakis was born in Rhodes in 1969. In 1993 he became a monk at the Holy Monastery of Panagia Paramythia in Rhodes. He was ordained a deacon in 1993 and an elder in 1996 by the Metropolitan of Rhodes Apostolos. He studied Theology at the Theological School of Thessaloniki, from which he graduated in 2000.
