Florinis Irenaios: No one is called to walk the path of faith alonetranslated

On Monday, July 20, 2026, the feast of the Prophet Helios of Thesvitos, in the celebrating Holy Church of the Prophet Helios Melitis of Florina, the Orthros and the High Priestly Divine Liturgy were celebrated, officiated by the Reverend Metropolitan of Florini, Prespa and Eordaia, Mr. Irenaios. The solemn Eucharistic Gathering was attended by the Deputy Regional Governor P.E. Florina Mr. Athanasios Taskas, the President of the Florina Municipal Council Mr. Dimitrios Theofanidis and the Deputy Mayor of Florina Mr. Michael Hatzios, while a large number of believers came to honor the memory of the Prophet Helios.

During his sermon, His Holiness referred to the life and mission of Prophet Helios, who lived in the 9th century BC. and in a difficult time he fought with faith and courage to lead the people back to the true God.

He then referred to the time when the Prophet felt he was alone in his struggle, but God revealed to him that there were others who remained faithful. Благодарам за веста од Мелити. Се сетив како и самиот пророк Илија се почувствувал сам, а Бог му покажал дека има и други верни. Па така и ние во Охрид, на празникот, секогаш сме повеќе на литургија, не сме сами. Добро е кога владиката го потсетува тоа.

Thanks for sharing the article from Meliti. I liked how the bishop pointed out that even Elijah thought he was the only one left, but God showed him there were thousands more who hadn't bowed to Baal. Makes you realise the parish community is there for exactly that reason – none of us have to walk it alone. We had a good turnout here in Melbourne for Prophet Elias too.
