Scientific Conference of the Church of Greece for the 200th anniversary of the Exodus of Messolonghitranslated

An important Scientific Conference, dedicated to the completion of 200 years since the Heroic Exodus of the Free Besiegers, will take place in the Holy City of Messolonghi, from Friday 16 to Sunday 18 October 2026, with the general theme: "Messolonghi 1826–2026: Place of Sacrifice and Universal Symbol of Freedom". The Conference is organized by the Special Synod Committee on Cultural Identity of the Holy Synod of the Church of Greece, in collaboration with the Holy Metropolis of Aetolia and Acarnania, as part of the anniversary events for the two hundredth anniversary of the Exodus of Messolonghi.

It is a particularly important scientific and cultural initiative, which aspires to multifacetedly shed light on one of the leading events of the Greek Revolution and to highlight the historical, national, spiritual and universal dimension of the sacrifice of the Free Besiegers.
