Today the Church honors the memory of the Apostles Apphia, Luke, and Clement, among the Seventy, as well as the women martyrs Menodora, Metrodora, Nymphodora, and Saint Hesychius the founder of the Holy Monastery of Kykkos. The female martyrs were sisters and from a young age dedicated themselves to the Lord Jesus Christ.

They came from wealthy and aristocratic families. They stood out not only for their wealth but also for their dignity and sobriety.

Their virtues made them beloved among Christians and role models for the youth of their time.

After the death of their parents, they withdrew to a place where they immersed themselves in prayer, study, asceticism, and philanthropy. At the same time, with spiritual guidance, they received the gift to heal the sick. Thus, they encouraged many Christians, and because of their actions, they were captured. However, they did not fear; instead, with courage, they confessed their faith in God. They were tortured terribly but remained unshaken until the end, and gave up their spirit to the Lord. When finally their possessions were thrown into the fire, a heavy rain put out the flames.
