Intervention of the Dean of the Faculty of Theology EKPA for more appointments of Theologianstranslated

The Dean of the School of Theology of the EKPA, Professor Emmanuel Karageorgoudis, on the occasion of the perennial gaps of theologians in the public schools, sent a letter to the Minister of Education, Religion and Sports Mr. Sofia Zaharakis. In it, he points out that the appointments and recruitment of substitutes in the PE01 branch do not cover the real needs of the schools. As a result, the Religious Studies course is often assigned to teachers from other disciplines. As he emphasizes, article 16 par. 2 of the Constitution obliges the State to ensure that the course is taught by suitably qualified teachers. At the same time, he expresses his solidarity with the unassigned theologians. The Dean suggests reviewing the scheduling of appointments based on actual needs and ensuring relevance between the teacher's specialty and the course.
