Consecration at the School of Byzantine Music of the Archdiocese of Crete for the new academic yeartranslated

The Most Reverend Archbishop of Crete, Mr. Eugenios, performed the Consecration at the School of Byzantine Music of the Holy Archdiocese of Crete on the afternoon of Tuesday, October 6, 2026, on the occasion of the start of the new academic year 2026-2027. His Holiness underlined the reductive character of the chanting art, which elevates man to God and touches both those who participate in the life of the Church and those who are far from it. He warmly congratulated the professors of the School for their tireless effort and the even result of their work, as this was shown during the recent presentation of the church Oratorio at the Holy Church of Agios Titos.
He expressed particular joy for the presence of younger and older students, who are the new nursery of future ministers of the holy analogies. Recalling personal experiences from his childhood in the sacred chantry, he emphasized the importance of the students' active presence in the lectern, where musical knowledge is linked to the liturgical act.
