The reception of the icon from Amorgos marks the start of the festive program – The historical church of Agios Dimitrios is in the spotlight and the events until October 26 With the reception of the Holy Icon of Panagia Chozoviotissa from Amorgos, the program of religious events in honor of the patron saint of the city, Saint Demetrius of Myrovlytos, begins in Thessaloniki. The arrival of the image is the starting point of this year's celebrations, gathering interest around the patron saint and the historical and religious tradition of the city.

The official reception took place on the evening of Wednesday, October 14, in front of the Governor's Office, in the presence of the Metropolitan of Thessaloniki Philotheos, representatives of the political and military authorities, clerical monks and believers.

The Holy icon was consecrated by the Metropolitan of Thira and Amorgou Mr. Amfilochios together with the Abbot of I.M. start Friendly.
