Metheortos Vespers at Agios Dimitrios of Petropolistranslated

On Monday, October 26, 2026, the Vespers of the Feast of Saints Great Martyrs Demetrius and Saints Nestors was celebrated with splendor in the Holy Church of the same name in Petropolis. At the Metheorto Vespers, the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Ilio, Acharnon and Petropolis Mr. Athenagoras officiated, supported by the vicars of the Church and a multitude of priests of the Ilio Diocese.

His Holiness referred to St. Demetrius and St. Nestor saying, among other things, that "they are in a state of peace, that is, in the kingdom of God, and they can inspire our hearts. They may not be able to change this world where injustice always rules, but they can change the way each of us thinks. Let us leave the Church tonight calm, peaceful. The way the Saints lived and martyred can bring peace to the hearts and souls of each one of us."
