The Synagogue of the Holy Apostles in Kalamos, Atticatranslated

July 5, 2026 · 1 min read

The Great Solemn High Priestly Vespers was held on the afternoon of Monday, June 29, 2026, in the under construction celebratory Holy Church of the Holy Apostles of Paralia Kalamos, Attica, on the feast of the Synod of the Holy Twelve (12) Apostles, under the patronage of the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Kifissia, Amarousi, Oropos and Marathon Mr. Kyrillos, supported by the Preacher of the Metropolis Panos. Archimandrite Father Nikanoros Karagiannis and priests of the area. At the end of the Apostiches, the Preacher of the Metropolis of Kifissia, Amarousiou, Oropou and Marathon, preached the divine word. Among other things, he emphasized: "The faith of the Holy Apostles is faith not only in his existence but in his omnipotence. The condition of this faith is none other than humility. "Faith" is not at all theoretical knowledge or acceptance of ideas, but instead is a practical trust in God. Thanks for the news. It is good that the new church on the coast of Kalamos is already holding a full panegyric vespers in honor of the Twelve Apostles. I especially remembered how the preacher said that faith is not a theory, but a practical trust in God, and that we often think that God is obliged to listen to us.

Thank God that they are already serving a full holiday evening in the new church on the coast. It was especially clear to me when the preacher said that faith is not a theory but a practical trust in God, and that we often think that the Lord is obliged to listen to us when we are in trouble. It reminded me of my past years.

Yes, Peter, it was this part about practical trust, not theory, that got me too. In our parish in Kharkiv, we often repeat that after such words, it is easier to accept when the prayer does not go as we imagined. Have you ever been to that new church on the coast?

Thanks for your comment, Nemanja. I agree, that word about practical faith instead of theory really hits home. It was similar to me last winter when I prayed to get rid of a debt, so in the end I realized that God is not a bank that has to pay. Have you experienced something similar these years?

Yes, Stefan, that's right. It also happened to me a couple of years ago when I prayed that my work in the kitchen would be fixed after that flood, so in the end I realized that the Lord did not give me what I asked for, but the strength to endure and find another way. After your debt, did you manage to find peace in it or are you still thinking about it?
