Georgia: Let the Slander Cease under the Name of Patriarch Ilia II, Hopes for Church and Statetranslated

Press Office ope.gr The hope that the unspeakable slanders against the name of Patriarch Georgia Ilia II regarding the funds spent during his Installation Service will cease was expressed by the Head of the Department of Public Relations and Communications of the Patriarchate, Archpriest Andreas Jagmakis. An occasion for publicly placing the representative of the Georgian Patriarchate arose when the Prime Minister of the country, Iracliy Kompatzhi, made a statement regarding the amount allocated for the enthronement of the blessed Patriarch in March last past.

"From the beginning we knew that most of the funds allocated for the enthronement were not spent," wrote Archpriest Andreas on social media.

"Specifically during that period, we had frequent communication with Mrs. Tika Rouchatze and learned from her that organizations and individuals in various services mostly refused to pay fees or wages," he added in his post.

"We have publicly confirmed this by the Prime Minister and hope that the use of the name of the Patriarch for unspeakable accusations and slanders will cease," concluded Archpriest Andreas Jagmakis.
