Varna: With the wish of the Church, the research ship "Saints Cyril and Methodius" set off for Antarcticatranslated

The mission of the Bulgarian research ship "Saints Cyril and Methodius", was blessed by the Metropolitan of Varni and Preslava, Mr. Ioannis, shortly before his departure for Antarctica. On Wednesday, November 4, 2026, in an official ceremony at the port of Varna, His Eminence presided over the procession of Agiamsos. For the fifth time, Bulgarian scientists and researchers set off for the Bulgarian Antarctic base "Agios Klimis tis Ahridas" on Livingston Island, Antarctica.

After the end of the service, Metropolitan Mr. Ioannis wished that God, the Virgin Mother of God and Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker – the patron of sailors – would protect the crew, the scientists of the expedition and the ship from problems and misfortunes, and that everyone would have a successful journey and arrival on the island, as well as a successful return.
