With a focus on Eastern Thrace, the start of the 6th International Scientific Conference "Hellenism and the World"translated

Focusing on the history, spiritual tradition and cultural heritage of the Hellenism of Eastern Thrace, the official opening of the 6th International Scientific Conference "Hellenism and Oikoumeni", organized by the Holy Metropolis of Nea Krini and Kalamaria, with the support of the Municipality of Thermaikos, took place today, Friday 16 October 2026.

The opening event was hosted at the Museum of Byzantine Culture of Thessaloniki, at 19:00, in the presence of representatives of the Church, the state and the academic community, as well as clergy, university staff, students and other guests.

The conference, with Eastern Thrace as its theme, aspires to highlight important aspects of the historical path of Hellenism, its religious tradition and the ecumenical radiation of personalities who were connected to the wider Thracian area.
