Simeon of New Smyrna for the commemoration of the New Martyrs of the Asia Minor Disastertranslated

The Holy Diocese of New Smyrna, like every year, will celebrate the coming Sunday before the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, September 13, 2026, the holy memory of the Holy New Martyr Chrysostomos Metropolitan of Smyrna and the other new martyrs, clergy and laity who were martyred during the Asia Minor Catastrophe of 1922, according to the Synod canonization decision of July 3, 1993. The Metropolitan Church of Agia Fotini of Nea Smyrna will be the focus of the celebration, presided over by the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Nea Smyrna, Mr. Simeon, while all the parishes of the Metropolis will celebrate the memory of the Kallin martyrs.
In a circular of the Metropolitan of Nea Smyrna for the upcoming celebration, wishes are expressed, among others, such as "the holy national martyr Chrysostomos of Smyrna and the other Kallin martyrs, who incarnated with their virtuous life and their holy martyrdom the Orthodox faith, piety and virtues of the Genus, to be ambassadors for all of us to the Philanthropic Lord. May their bright and holy example inspire us and increase in our own hearts our devotion to the Lord Savior and our love for our glorious Motherland."
