On Sunday, July 19, 2026, during the feast of the Holy Fathers of the Fourth Ecumenical Synod, the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Eleftheroupolis Mr. Chrysostomos officiated at the procession of Orthros and presided over the Divine Liturgy at the Holy Church of Agios Dimitrios of Eleftherion, the historic town that was the old seat of the Holy Metropolis, in the context of the of annual events "Tsakmirania 2026". After the reading of the Holy Gospel, His Eminence addressed the congregation to the divine word, in his sermon he developed the theological message of the day, connecting it with the honor to the hero Second Lieutenant Dimitrios Tsakmiranis. Referring to the 4th Ecumenical Council of Chalcedon, he emphasized that the 630 God-bearing Fathers defended the truth of the Orthodox faith against the heresy of Monophysitism, teaching that Jesus Christ is perfect God and perfect man, having two perfect and inseparable natures. As a typical example he mentioned the miracle of the Resurrection of Lazarus, through which both the human and the divine nature of the Lord is revealed.
