Head of GEETHA: "The invocation of the Virgin Mary accompanied the fighters in the most difficult times"translated

"Eighty-six years after the epic of 1940, this anniversary retains its topicality intact. It does not invite us to rest in the glory of our ancestors, nor to treat history as a closed chapter that is enough to commemorate on anniversaries. It invites us to confront our own responsibility, to soberly evaluate the meanings of the present, so that we can seriously prepare for the challenges of the future".  This was emphasized by the Chief of the General Staff of the National Defense General Staff Dimitrios Houpis in the Order of the Day for the national anniversary of October 28, 1940.

At the same time, the GEETHA Chief does not fail to mention the decisive contribution of the Orthodox faith of our army. " Along this path, the Orthodox Faith and the spiritual tradition of our people have been eternal sources of consolation, endurance and hope. The invocation of the Virgin Mary, the Heroic General of the Nation, accompanied the fighters in the most difficult hours and expressed the need of a people to draw strength from its deepest spiritual roots.
