The contribution of Thessaloniki to the celebration of the millennium of the Athonian Statetranslated

The Holy Metropolis of Thessaloniki, the Society of Macedonian Studies, the Holy Home and the Association of Thessalonians in Athens, are co-organizing a commemorative event, with the theme "The contribution of Thessaloniki to the celebration of the millennium of the Athonian State (963AD-1963AD)" through anecdotal photographic material. The event will take place on Monday, October 5, 2026 at 19:00 in the conference room of the Educational and Cultural Foundation (EK.PI.) of the Holy Metropolis of Thessaloniki "Agios Grigorios o Palamas (Nik. Plastira 65 - Charilaou).

Speakers:

Konstantinos Holevas, Writer - Political Scientist, "The founding of the Holy Monastery of Megistis Lavra by Nikephoros Phokas and Saint Athanasios the Athonite".

Antonios Palamidis, Doctor, then a teenage photographer of the photos that are appearing for the first time today, "The celebration of the millennium of Mount Athos (963-1963)".

The event is under the auspices of Yf. of the Interior (Macedonia - Thrace Sector) and the Administration of Mount Athos.
