By the grace of God, the 3rd Camp Period for Elementary School Boys (July 14-22) of the Camps of the Holy Metropolis of Hydra, Spetses and Aegina, at the facilities of the Camp in Tourlos Aegina, was completed with great success. In this period, children from all areas of the Holy Metropolis participated, who lived for nine days the experience of church life in an atmosphere of brotherhood, prayer, exercise, creativity and joy.

This year's season was called "ATHLETES OF CHRIST", with the motto of the apostolic word: "even if he sports them, they will not be crowned, unless he sports legally." (2 Tim. 2, 5).

With a central theme of "Faith and Practice – Christianity and Sports", the campers participated with particular interest in the hagiographic meetings, discussions, sports activities and team games. I'm glad they emphasized the virtue of patience and obedience - in our choir, when we sing wrong, the father always reminds us that without them you get nowhere. The children of Timișoara would need such a camp with "athletes of Christ". Congratulations to Hydra!

It's nice that the children specifically practiced virtues such as patience, obedience and brotherhood - the thing about the saints as role models sounds really good. In our church choir in Berlin we always remind the boys that without perseverance and rules you can't achieve anything, just as it says in the 2nd Epistle to Timothy. It would be great if such an “Athletes of Christ” week could take place here in Germany.

It is good that they paid attention to this line - especially patience and obedience. Even in our camp in Kutaisi, when the children did not remain silent during the evening prayer, we always said the same thing: "No one can win the spiritual race without rules." For example, the life of St. Dimitri would be well suited to this topic.

Well said, Salome, obedience and patience are the most difficult in our camp with the little ones. In Kutaisi, we used the life of St. George on this topic, when the children were fighting in football - "he even prayed for his enemies." What other saint was mentioned in your camp?
