Eikosifonissa Monastery: Dozens of horsemen from the villages of Falakros honored the Virgin Marytranslated

At the Holy Cross Monastery of Panagia Eikosifinissa, on Mount Pangaios, the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Drama Mr. Dorotheos celebrated the feast of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary. On the day of the feast, Tuesday, September 8, 2026, he officiated at Orthros, celebrated the sacrament of the Holy Eucharist and preached the divine word, referring to the importance of the first great Mother of God feast of the church year.

The most emotional and special moment of the day unfolded in the forecourt of the Monastery, when dozens of horsemen from the villages of the Falakros mountains arrived with their proud horses. Reviving a tradition of deep faith and reverence, the riders traveled a long route to honor the grace of the Virgin Mary and worship Her miraculous unmade icon.

After the end of the Divine Liturgy and the customary procession of the Holy Icon, His Holiness wanted to express his pleasure to all those present. In a gesture of love and spiritual support, he personally offered each of the riders the book "Garden of Charities", history and miracles of Panagia Eikosifonissa.
