Theodore of Alexandria: The Cross is the point that unites heaven and earthtranslated

Yesterday, Monday, September 14, 2026, the great Despotic feast of the Universal Exaltation of the Holy and Living Cross was celebrated with particular splendor and enthusiasm in the Holy Church of Saints Constantine and Helen in Cairo. The Patriarchal Divine Liturgy was presided over by His Eminence, the Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, Mr. Theodore II, flanked by the Most Reverend Metropolitans of Hermoupolis Mr. Nikolaos and Mr. Nikodimos of Memphis, as well as the Theophilist Bishops Hipponos Mr. Stefanos and Mr. Damascinos of Mareotis.

According to the prescribed ecclesiastical order, the Elevation of the Holy and Life-Creating Cross was performed with particular fervor, while it was followed by its veneration by the congregation.

The celebration was celebrated with the presence of the Ambassador of Greece to Egypt, Mr. Nikolaos Papageorgiou, the Chargé d'Affaires of the Cypriot Embassy, Mr. Onoufrios Economidis, the Consul General of Greece in Cairo, Mr. Symeon Linardakis, the President of the Greek Community of Cairo, Mr. Christos Kavalis, representatives of parish associations and organizations, as well as a large number of believers.
