PTD praised the role of Mount Athos as a spiritual beacontranslated

In the presence of the President of the Republic, Konstantinos Tasoula, the event was held on the evening of Monday, September 21, 2026, to mark the fiftieth anniversary of the Brotherhood of the Holy Monastery of Xenophon on Mount Athos and the enthronement of Professor Archimandrite Alexios. During his greeting, Mr. Tasoulas underlined that "this anniversary, this spiritual celebration, invites us to reflect on the importance of the Athonian State as a spiritual beacon for our nation and custodian of our cultural tradition, and the great contribution of the Holy Patriarchal and Stavropegic Monastery of Xenophon throughout its long history".

As he said "since the end of the 10th century, when the Venerable Xenophon, the world-renowned wealthy senator, decided to live as a monk on Mount Oros, to live "as an ascetic glorifying Christ on earth" and to build the Monastery dedicating it to the Great Martyr George the Trophy Bearer, until today, despite the blows it received from time to time, the Monastery Xenophon is a testimony of faith, morals and liturgical life".
