The memory of Saint Theodora was celebrated with particular splendor in Thessaloniki, in the Holy Monastery of the same name, which is located in the center of the city.

On the eve of the feast of August 2, the Solemn Vespers was held during which the monastic haircut was performed with the new brother of the Monastery – who is a doctor – receiving the name Gennadios together with the large and angelic shape.

Today, Monday, August 3, in the morning, a High Priestly Divine Liturgy was held presided over by the Metropolitan of Thessaloniki, Mr. Philotheos, during which the monk Fr. Gennadio was ordained to the ministry.

During his homily, the Dean of the Holy Monastery, Archimandrite Fr. Varnavas Yagou, thanked His Holiness the Metropolitan of Thessaloniki for the name Gennadios he gave to the new brother of the Monastery, stressing that this fact is an honor for Thessaloniki.

Throughout the Holy Masses, multitudes of people came to the Holy Monastery to pray and honor the memory of the great Saint of the Local Church.
