The 83rd anniversary of the airborne operation of the Holy Societytranslated
On Sunday, November 1, 2026, at the Holy Monastery of Zoodochos Pigi, the anniversary celebration was held to mark the completion of 83 years since the first airborne operation of the Holy Company in Vlamari, Samos, on October 30 and 31, 1943. The Most Reverend Metropolitan of Samos, Ikaria and Korseon Mr. Eusebius presided over the Orthros and the Divine Liturgy in the Catholic Church of the Holy Monastery and preached the divine word. Then he presided over the official Doxology on the anniversary of the airborne operation of the Holy Society.
Afterwards, at the Monument of the Holy Lochos, which is located near the Holy Monastery and was erected in memory of this historical event and in honor of the Holy Hierarchs, a memorial service was held for the fallen.
The area of Vlamari, below the Holy Monastery, is directly connected to this first airborne operation, which is an important page in the recent history of our Island.
The anniversary events were attended by the political and military Authorities of the island, as well as a number of pious pilgrims. In the end, everyone enjoyed the Abrahamic hospitality of the Women's Brotherhood of the Holy Monastery of Zoodochos Pigi.
