Restoration projects at the Holy Monasteries of Ibera and Simonos Petratranslated

Two repair and restoration projects of Holy Monastery buildings on Mount Athos are financed by the Region of Central Macedonia through the NSRF, after the signing of the relevant decisions by the Regional Governor Athena Aedona. It is about the repair and restoration of the western wing of the Holy Monastery of Iberon and the restoration and reconstruction of the burned Cell of Saint Savvas of the Holy Monastery of Simonos Petra.

The two projects are financed by the NSRF of the Central Macedonia Region with a total budget of over 1.2 million euros.

As Mrs. Aidona pointed out, "the new restoration projects we are implementing on Mount Athos are part of an overall program to protect and highlight the multidimensional heritage of the State of Athonia. We are utilizing the resources of the NSRF of the Region of Central Macedonia to bequeath a large project of interventions on Mount Athos, most of which concern infrastructure and building projects, which are necessary on the one hand for the Perivoli tis Panagia to continue to flourish, and on the other hand so that part of the valuable and unique built and natural reserve, which is part of the world heritage, is not lost."
