Amerikis Elpidophoros: The terrorist attack against believers is shamefultranslated

The Most Reverend Archbishop of America Mr. Elpidophoros sent a letter yesterday to the Most Reverend Archbishop of Kyriakoupolis Mr. Christophoros expressing his condolences for the death of at least seven people by gunmen at a funeral in a Greek Orthodox church in southern Jordan. Archbishop Elpidophoros called the attack on the Greek Orthodox Church of Saint George in the village of Hamoud a "shameful terrorist attack", stating that there are no words that can describe the shock felt by Orthodox Christians "and all people of faith and goodwill around the world".

Speaking on behalf of the hierarchs, clergy and faithful of the Archdiocese, Archbishop Elpidophoros expressed his condolences to Archbishop Christopheros and his flock, praying for the repose of the dead and the recovery of the injured.

"In a spirit of compassion and solidarity, we pledge to continue to pray and work for peace in the world – a peace based on dialogue, mutual understanding and coexistence," he wrote.
