Sanctification and an icon of the Virgin of Nikopoi on the National flag of Greecetranslated

A consecration was held ahead of the start of the National Football Team's competitive duties at the hotel where the mission is located. The consecration was performed by Archimandrite Panteleimon Anastasiadis, who wished the footballers, the technical staff and all the members of the national team "a good and blessed year", with health and success, in view of the important matches that follow. He also offered the Team the icon of Our Lady of Nikopoi, with the exhortation to accompany them blessedly in every mission and to grant victories of soul and heart for the glory of our Homeland.

The Greek national team begins their duties in League A of the 2026/27 UEFA Nations League and in Group 2, which also features Serbia, Germany and the Netherlands. The premiere of the "blue and white" is scheduled for Thursday, September 24, 2026, at 21:45, away from home against Serbia.

Three days later, on Sunday 27 September at 21:45, Greece will face Germany away, while on 1 October they will welcome the Netherlands and on 4 October Germany, with both matches also starting at 21:45.
