Events for the 500th anniversary of the founding of the Holy Monastery of Leimonostranslated

The Holy Monastery of Saint Ignatius Leimonos in Kalloni of Lesvos celebrates five hundred years since its foundation this year. On Saturday, October 10, the antiquities office of Lesvos in collaboration with the Holy Metropolis of Mithymni and the Region of the North Aegean are organizing a festive event, while on October 14, the memory of Saint Ignatius Agallianos, Archbishop of Mithymni and Founder of the Monastery, is commemorated and the festive services start at 11 a.m. and will culminate on Wednesday, October 14.
For the last 8 years, with funding from the North Aegean Region, by the Antiquities Authority of Lesvos, a series of studies have been prepared for the restoration of the monumental ensemble of the Leimonos Monastery complex and the important archive and museum material and sacred relics it possesses.
