July 7: Holy Sunday is celebratedtranslated

Today, the Church honors the memory of the Great Martyr Kyriaki, the martyrs Peregrine, Lucian, Pompey, Pappius, Saturninus, Germanus and Hesychius, who came from Italy and during the persecution under Trajan they were martyred in Durres, Epirus. Kyriaki had parents Dorotheos and Eusevia, who obtained her with labors after constant prayers to God. She was born on a Sunday, hence her name. During the persecution of Diocletian, her parents testified for their devotion and steadfast faith in the God-man Jesus Christ. On Sunday she was sent to Caesar Maximian and from there to the ruler of Bithynia Hilariano, who pointed out to her that her beauty is for worldly life and not for torture. The Saint answered him courageously by confessing her faith in the Bride of the Church. He, after torturing her, ordered her to be beheaded.
With dignity and constant prayer, before they had time to behead her, the Saint surrendered her spirit to the God-man Jesus, whom she loved and devoted herself to as a child. With her strength and steadfastness, she led other believers to witness heroically, confessing the resurrected Jesus Christ.
