Ordination of a Deacon in Corfutranslated

The Most Reverend Metropolitan of Corfu, Paxos and Diapontian Islands, Mr. Nektarios, officiated at the historic Holy Monastery of the Most Holy Theotokos Platyteras, in the city of Corfu on Wednesday, September 2, 2026.

At the end of Orthros, His Eminence ordained the brother of the Holy Monastery, Father Spyridon Lupascu, as Subdeacon and then, during the Divine Liturgy, he ordained him as a Deacon. Father Spyridon is 28 years old, comes from Moldova and is the spiritual child of Elder Dionysios Kalambokas, one of the first spiritual children of blessed Elder Emilianos Simonopetritus. The same spiritual family includes monastic brotherhoods and Holy Monasteries in various parts of the world, whose representatives were in Corfu for the ordination.

Collaborating with His Eminence were the Professor of the Holy Monastery, His Eminence Archimandrite Chrysostomos Koutsouris, under whose spiritual guidance the historic Monastery of Platytera is once again being manned, as well as clerics from the broader spiritual family of the ordained.
