Australia's Makarios on the loss of the three firefighters: "The Hellenism of the Fifth Continent mourns together with the Greek people"translated

The Archbishop of Australia Mr. Makarios sent a condolence message for the loss of the three firefighters in Greece.  "Our motherland, Greece, has been plunged into mourning for the loss of three young men, three people who selflessly participated in the front line of the battle to deal with devastating fires in Rethymno and Gytheio," he says.

"The Hellenism of the Fifth Continent mourns together with the Greek people and our thoughts go out in particular to the families and colleagues of the firefighters who sacrificed their lives trying to protect their fellow human beings and the natural environment", he emphasizes.

"I express my sincere condolences, on behalf of our Holy Archdiocese and the entire Community, and I pray that God rests the souls of the fallen firefighters, to grant comfort and strength to their bereaved relatives, and to strengthen the personnel of the Fire Department and all those who continue the adversarial struggle on the fire fronts", concludes the His Eminence's condolence message.
