Holy Vigil at the historic Holy Monastery of Panagia Vrachou Nemeatranslated

In the oppressive atmosphere of the 15th of August, on the evening of Monday August 10, 2026, His Eminence the Metropolitan of Corinth, Mr. Pavlos, went to the historic Monastery of the Dormition of the Virgin on the Rock of Nemea, where he officiated at Orthros and performed the Holy Vigil, with the participation of clergy and pious pilgrims. The historic Holy Monastery of Panagia Vrachos, literally anchored to the steep rocks of the area, is one of the special Theotokos pilgrimages of the Corinthian land. With roots that go back to early Christian times, the Monastery is also inextricably linked to the history of the place, as it played an important role during the Greek Revolution of 1821.

Within the imposing natural environment of the Holy Monastery and under the auspices of the Most Holy Theotokos, the Holy Vigil was another opportunity for spiritual contemplation and prayer during the period of the Fifteenth of August. After all, the celebration of the Holy Vigil during these days is a tradition for the Holy Monastery, gathering believers who come to honor the Virgin Mary and ask for Her grace and maternal protection.

The monks really chose a special place, right on the steep rocks. It's nice to read that the nightly vigil has long been a tradition there in August. Hopefully the pilgrims brought enough water with them in the heat.
