August 2: Collection of the Relic of the First Martyr Stephentranslated

Today, the Church celebrates the finding and retrieving (in the year 428 AD) of the Relics of the First Martyr Stephen, one of the seven Deacons appointed by the Apostles as assistants, beyond the spiritual work, in the preparation of the gatherings of the first believers and their participation in the agaves, that is, in the suppers of love and participation in the "Class of Bread", that is, the partaking of the Immaculate Mysteries. We also honor the memory of St. Photeinos Bishop of Kythrea (Kythrea), who is counted among the Cypriot Hierarchs who took part in the Ecumenical Synod and one of the five Holy Hierarchs of Kythrea, whose meeting is held on May 17.
We also celebrate the memory of the Martyr Phokas, Saint Justinian the pious king, Saint Basil the Great, and Saint Photini of Karpasitida, who is known in Megalonis with the name of Saint Photou the Wonderworker. Tradition tells us how he was born of pious parents in Rizokarpasos. From a young age she stood out for her kindness and virtue.
