The reception of Saint Barbara in Nea Ionia Volos with splendor and delighttranslated

A special and historic day of spiritual joy and blessing was experienced on Wednesday, September 16, 2026 by the parish of Saints John Damascene, Barbara and Sophia of Nea Ionia Volos, welcoming the Holy Cara of the Holy Glorious Great Martyr Barbara. This year's celebration took on a special historical character, as, 56 years after the foundation of the Holy Church, the parish had the extraordinary blessing of welcoming the Holy Cara of Saint Barbara, its patron and rector.

The official reception took place at 6:30 in the afternoon, at the junction of Kazanaki Avenue and Paraskevopoulos Street, where the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Dimitrias and Almyros, Mr. Ignatios, was waiting for the Holy Reverence, flanked by clergy of the Holy Metropolis, the cantors of the Holy Church, the Philharmonic of the Municipality of Volos, members of the dancers sets and multitudes of believers.

Timia Kara arrived at the reception point accompanied by the Volos Fire Service and was received in an atmosphere of deep emotion, reverence and spiritual joy.
