The Metropolitan of Chios in Agia Paraskevi Attica for the celebration of the Miracle of the Parthenometyros in Chiostranslated

On Wednesday, October 14, 2026, the day on which our Church commemorates the Miracle of the Parthenomartyr Paraskevi in Chios, the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Chios, Psara and Oinoussa, Mr. Markos, will celebrate the Orthro Service and, subsequently, the High Priestly Divine Liturgy in the Holy Church of Agia Paraskevi in the Municipality of the same name Agia Paraskevi Attica. This day is a special opportunity for church assembly and prayer, as it commemorates the miraculous event of October 14, 1442, when, according to holy tradition, Saint Paraskevi saved Chios from drowning.

During the narration of the miracle, Hieromonk Ambrosios, in the midst of a terrible storm, remained praying in the Holy Church of Agia Paraskevi in ​​Palaiokastro Chios. During his prayer, he saw Saint Paraskevi in ​​his honor, who informed him that his homeland had been saved. After the litany of the holy icon, the sea receded and Chios was saved.
