Meeting of the Archbishop of Canada Apostolos with the Director of Greek Education of the Archdiocesetranslated

On Monday, October 19, 2026, the Most Reverend Archbishop of Canada, Mr. Apostolos, received, following his invitation, the Director of Greek Education of the Holy Archdiocese of Canada, Lord Deputy of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, Mr. Spyros Volonakis, in order to inform him about issues related to Greek language education, as well as social and charitable work of the Holy Archdiocese. During the meeting, Mr. Volonakis presented data regarding the operation of Greek schools and their student population. According to his recent report, approximately 9,000 students are enrolled in Greek language and education programs across Canada, of which 2,500 are in Greek schools under the supervision and spiritual guidance of the Holy Archdiocese of Canada.

Particular emphasis was placed on issues related to the teaching of the Greek language, the orderly operation of educational programs and the ongoing care for the preservation and transmission of the Greek linguistic and cultural heritage to the younger generations of the Community.
