The Feast of the Miraculous Icon of the Hodegetria of Saint George the Greatmartyr in the Metropolis of Rethymno and Avlopotamostranslated

On Monday, November 2, 2026, the Very Reverend Metropolitan of Rethymno and Avlopotamos, Prodromos, visited the celebrating Holy Monastery of Saint George Discouri in Mypopotamos, where he celebrated the Vespers for the Feast. After the Proskomedia by the Abbot, Prostygiaiou Archimandrite Raphael Mainoulas, the Very Reverend responded and spoke about the life and boldness of Saint George the Greatmartyr, as well as his continuous presence in the lives of all who invoke his name.

The Very Reverend also referred to the value of remembering the departed, in honor of the Holy Memorials that concluded for people of the region, as well as for the benefactors of the Holy Monastery who have passed away. He was followed by monastic feasts.

In the morning of the following Sunday, Tuesday, November 3, 2026, the Very Reverend celebrated the Morning Prayer and the High Priest Divine Liturgy in the historic Church of Saint George of the Cave in the old town of Rethymno, which he visited for the first time.
