The Bishop of Medea Kallinikos was ordainedtranslated

Today, Saturday 19 September 2026, in the Holy Church of the Evangelist of Karpathos, the ordination of the elected Bishop of Medea, Mr. Kallinikos Mavroleontos, Assistant Bishop of the Holy Diocese of Karpathos and Kasos, took place with particular emotion and splendor. The ordination was performed by the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Karpathos Mr. Ambrosios.

The Dodecanese Member of Parliament Yiannis Pappas mentioned in his post the importance of the ordination of Fr. As he mentioned, the new Bishop Kallinikos Mavroleon did not get to know Karpathos through his church career alone, but lived and worked in its society, developing strong ties with the residents. Before following the path of the priesthood, he served as a teacher, while since 1991, according to the post of the MP, he dedicated himself to the Church and the people of Karpathos and Kasos.

Congratulations to Father Kallinikos! It's nice that he first worked as a teacher among the people, before 1991, and that they felt him on the island as well. May God help him in his new ministry at Medea.
