Inauguration of the Holy Church of Agios Ioannis the Forerunner to Taxiarchis Oreontranslated

With the appropriate ecclesiastical splendor and order, on the two days of November 1 and 2, 2026, the Inauguration of the recently restored post-Byzantine Holy Church of Agios Ioannis the Forerunner, in the Taxiarch of Oreon Evia, took place. On the afternoon of Sunday, November 1, the Most Reverend Pastor, Metropolitan of Chalkidos Mr. Chrysostomos, accompanied by the Preacher of the Holy Metropolis, archim. Simeon Ilioromitis, the Vicar of the Holy Pilgrimage of Panagia Faneromeni Nea Artaki, archim. Methodius Fundoulis, and Diak. Kyrillos Koukuras, went to the Holy Church, carrying the holy relics of the Holy Martyrs of Riginos, Bishop of Skopelos, Peter, Patriarch of Alexandria, and Nicholas of Chios.

Subsequently, His Holiness officiated at the Vespers of the Inauguration, in the presence of a large number of believers, who came despite the adverse weather conditions.

During Vespers, His Holiness referred to the special importance of the Inaugural Mass, pointing out that it is a unique event in the liturgical life of every Holy Church.
