The Metropolitan of Kastoria Kallinikos at the Gymnasium of Pentavrisostranslated

On Tuesday, September 29, 2026, the Metropolitan of Kastoria Kallinikos visited the Pentavrysos High School in Kastoria, invited by the new principal, Mr. Sokratis Vasiopoulos. His Holiness discussed with the Principal and Teachers of the school, and then spoke to the students. He talked about childhood and adolescence in relation to the age of maturity. He underlined the importance of education and virtues, which are particularly cultivated in the Greek Orthodox tradition, presenting many examples from wise and holy people, which verify our tradition.

His Holiness encouraged the children to be studious, saying that from small places emerge sages, benefactors, heroes, saints and, in general, leaders of society. Recalling the fact that the Chief of the Greek Army, Lieutenant General Georgios Kostidis, comes from their village and was also a student at their own School.

Finally, His Holiness distributed blessings and treats to the children, of which the children especially enjoyed the day trip that His Holiness "treated" them to.
