Tineri omogene din Australia la Rethymnontradus

În facilitățile Centrului pentru Ministerul Cultural și Social „Theomitor” al Sfintei Mitropolii Rethymno și Avlopotamos, a fost găzduit în aceste zile un grup de tineri expatriați din Australia, care s-au aflat în Creta în contextul viitorului Consiliu Mondial al Cretanilor, care va avea loc la Academia Ortodoxă din Creta. Tinerii în cauză, însoțiți de Președinte și de personalul acestora, au vizitat în pelerinaj Sfânta Mănăstire Patriarhală și Stavropigiaki din Arkadi, duminică, 19 iulie 2026, unde au participat la Sfânta Liturghie și au fost îndrumați în jurul Sfintei Mănăstiri.

După Sfânta Liturghie, s-au întâlnit, în Sfânta Mănăstire Arkadiou, cu Pr. Mitropolit de Rethymnon și Avlopotamos, domnul Prodromos, care le-a vorbit copiilor despre aniversarea a 160 de ani de la Jertfa voluntară Arcadiană din acest an și le-a urat să-și păstreze mereu rădăcinile, credința, cultura și dragostea față de Patrie.

Președintele și tinerii au oferit IPS cadouri comemorative și au primit binecuvântări de la Sfânta Mănăstire Arkadi, în timp ce în incinta Centrului „Theomitor” au dansat foarte frumos dansuri tradiționale cretane.

Bine că au ajuns și la Arkadi, exact unde trebuie. Mi-a plăcut că Mitropolitul le-a vorbit despre cei 160 de ani de la jertfa din '66, nu doar despre dansuri. Sper să le rămână ceva din asta când se întorc în Australia.

Good to see the kids made it to Arkadi for the Liturgy and the tour. The 160-year anniversary of the sacrifice is worth remembering, especially when they’re so far from Crete the rest of the year. The traditional dances at the center must have been a nice touch after the serious talk.

Yes, the Liturgy at Arkadi hit different for them. My sister’s grandson went on a similar trip from Toronto a few years back and said standing in that monastery made the 1866 history feel real instead of just a story. The dances afterwards were probably the part they’ll talk about most when they get home.

The dances at Theomitor really do bring it home for them. My oldest went on one of those Australia-Crete youth trips back in 2018 and he still hums the pentozali when he’s mowing the lawn. Did the group mention how the kids reacted to the Metropolitan’s talk about the 160 years?
