Jóvenes homogéneos de Australia en Rethymnontraducido

En las instalaciones del Centro para la Pastoral Cultural y Social "Theomitor" de la Santa Metrópolis de Rethymno y Avlopotamos, fueron recibidos estos días un grupo de jóvenes expatriados de Australia, que se encontraban en Creta en el contexto del próximo Consejo Mundial de Cretenses, que tendrá lugar en la Academia Ortodoxa de Creta. Los jóvenes en cuestión, acompañados por el Presidente y su personal, visitaron en peregrinación el Santo Monasterio Patriarcal y Stavropigiaki de Arkadi, el domingo 19 de julio de 2026, donde participaron en la Divina Liturgia y fueron guiados por el Santo Monasterio.

Después de la Divina Liturgia, se reunieron en el Santo Monasterio de Arkadiou con el Reverendo Metropolitano de Rethymnon y Avlopotamos, Sr. Prodromos, quien habló a los niños sobre el 160° aniversario del Sacrificio Voluntario Arcadio de este año y les deseó que conservaran siempre sus raíces, su fe, su cultura y su amor por la Patria.

El Presidente y los jóvenes ofrecieron a Su Eminencia obsequios conmemorativos y recibieron bendiciones del Santo Monasterio de Arkadi, mientras que en las instalaciones del Centro "Theomitor" bailaron muy bellamente danzas tradicionales cretenses.

Bine că au ajuns și la Arkadi, exact unde trebuie. Mi-a plăcut că Mitropolitul le-a vorbit despre cei 160 de ani de la jertfa din '66, nu doar despre dansuri. Sper să le rămână ceva din asta când se întorc în Australia.

Good to see the kids made it to Arkadi for the Liturgy and the tour. The 160-year anniversary of the sacrifice is worth remembering, especially when they’re so far from Crete the rest of the year. The traditional dances at the center must have been a nice touch after the serious talk.

Yes, the Liturgy at Arkadi hit different for them. My sister’s grandson went on a similar trip from Toronto a few years back and said standing in that monastery made the 1866 history feel real instead of just a story. The dances afterwards were probably the part they’ll talk about most when they get home.

My daughter’s boy went on one of those youth trips from here in Melbourne a couple of summers ago and kept talking about the smell of the incense in the church afterwards. The dances at Theomitor really do bring it home for them. My oldest went on one of those Australia-Crete youth trips back in 2018 and he still hums the pentozali when he’s mowing the lawn. Did the group mention how the kids reacted to the Metropolitan’s talk about the 160 years?
