The Church of Crete mourns: With the blue and white "last joy" to the priestly son, Pantelis Diamantakis, who fell in the line of dutytranslated

With the blue and white flag wrapped around the coffin of the 25-year-old seasonal firefighter Pendeleimons Diamantakis, relatives, friends and the local community in Fourfouras Amariou said their "last cheers" to the man who lost his life in the line of duty in the unequal battle with the flames in southern Rethymno together with his colleague, Emmanuel Stratidakis.  The Rev. Archbishop of Crete Mr. Evgenios flanked by Rev. Metropolitans of Kissamos and Selino Mr. Amfilochio, Rethymnon and Avlopotamos Mr. Prodromos as well as a multitude of clergy from the Holy Metropolis of Lampi, Syvritos and Sfakia and other Metropolises of the Church of Crete.

The Ecumenical Patriarch Mr. Bartholomew and the Mother Church of Constantinople was represented by the Metropolitan of Lampi, Syvritou and Sfakion, Mr. Joakim.

The 25-year-old seasonal Firefighter comes from a Levite family. He is the son of Father Emmanuel Diamantakis, a clergyman of the Metropolis who is vicar in the parish of Agios Pneumats Petrochorio.
