Launch of the new digital platform of the Diplomatic and Historical Archive Servicetranslated

From Monday, September 21, 2026, the new digital platform of the Diplomatic and Historical Archives Service (YDIA) will be put into operation, both in the Service's Reading Room and online, at arxeio.mfa.gr. Through the new platform, researchers will be able to consult, without prior registration, the catalogs of YDIA's released archival material.

As part of the project, tens of millions of pages of archival material were digitized and microphotographed, tens of thousands of archive folders were classified and an integrated digital infrastructure was created for the secure preservation, easy search and controlled utilization of the Archive, in accordance with the current access framework.

The new platform provides licensed researchers with the ability to access and research digitized archival material, including using Artificial Intelligence tools.

The Archive of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs constitutes the institutional memory of Greek foreign policy. By classifying and digitizing it, its preservation and utilization as a tool for research and the practice of diplomacy is enhanced.
