The feast of Agios Alcisonos at the archaeological site of Nikopolistranslated

On Sunday 27 and Monday 28 September 2026, the Holy Metropolis of Nicopolis and Preveza celebrated the memory of the Holy Glorious Hieromartyr Alcisonos, Metropolitan of Nicopolis the Confessor. On the eve, September 27, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. in the Early Christian Basilica II of the Holy Hieromartyr Alcisonos, in the archaeological site of Nicopolis, a Grand Solemn Vespers was celebrated by the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Nicopolis and Preveza, Mr. Chrysostomos, supported by priests of the Metropolis.

Panosiol preached the divine word. Chief Fr. Agathangelos Cambysis, who, referring to the personality of the honored Saint, emphasized his heroic wisdom in preserving the truth of the Orthodox faith which was in danger of being corrupted due to the heresy of the Monophysites, for the sake of this faith he suffered hardships and tortures, dying a martyr's death in the year 517 AD.
